This reimagining of a shelter for the Worlds Fair Park amphitheater in Knoxville, Tennessee proposes a structure designed to allow as much openness as possible to the protected space. A grid structure outlined by a NURBS curve and filled by a voronoi pattern creates flowing and irregular shapes. The structure flares from minimal supports to achieve a feeling of expansiveness. This affords relatively unobstructed views of the surrounding park while providing adequate shelter to the amphitheater from sun and precipitation. The spaces created by the voronoi pattern would be spanned by shaded, translucent panels to temper sunlight and create a watertight surface.
